Characteristics of unsteady combustion around hypersonic cylindrical projectiles

چکیده

A series of simulations were carried out to reproduce unsteady combustion around the hypervelocity cylindrical projectiles. A simplified two-step chemical reaction model was used to handle the reactions behind the bow shock. The simulations were examined with various parameters, such as projectile speed, initial pressure, and projectile diameter, and the unsteady mode of the Large-Disturbance regime was observed in all cases. The simulation results revealed the characteristics depending on the experimental conditions, and concluded that the non-dimensional oscillation period t/tind is proportional to non-dimensional diameter d/lind. Therefore, the oscillation period of LDR around cylindrical projectile can be predicted by d/lind.
